Earth Day is celebrated in over 190 countries worldwide, and has been celebrated every April 22 since 1970. Earth Day began in the United States, however, since 1990, the Earth Day Network seeks to improve global awareness of the celebration.
Events emphasize the creative ways people find to recycle or re-use items, and reduce energy comsumption and waste. Recycling drives make huge impacts. Participating in Earth Day takes many forms. Organizations and towns hold festivals to help people contribute to a safer environment.
The North Palouse Washington e-Newscast contributes to a cleaner environment by digitally providing news to readers.
Celebrate Earth Day by spreading the word in your community about this newspaper and other online media, and also by sending news to the editor at newstnpw@air-pipe.com.
